Frequently asked questions.
Can pieces be made custom to my wants and needs?
Absolutely. Every piece made in my shop is custom-built to your exact specifications. This includes your choice of woods, size, function, and design. I enjoy collaborating closely with clients—combining ideas, refining concepts, and even working from your sketches or photos to bring your vision to life.
Where and by whom are these pieces made?
All pieces are made by me in my studio in Easthampton, Massachusetts. The studio is housed in a historic mill building that once produced elastics. Every stage of the process—from design to final finish—is done by me and by hand. A Shop Dog is always close by for good company.
What type of finishes are used?
Each piece is finished with three coats of sprayed conversion varnish, providing a durable, silky-smooth surface that enhances the beauty of the wood.
How long does a piece take to make?
That depends on the complexity and size of the piece. Most projects take between one and three months to complete. Start times vary depending on the current workload, so it’s best to place your order early to secure a spot in my queue.
What about shipping?
If you’re located in the Northeast, I typically deliver the piece myself. For clients elsewhere in the country, I work with professional blanket-wrap shippers who consistently deliver pieces safely and in perfect condition—placing them exactly where they belong and leaving nothing behind but the finished work.
I’ve never done anything like this before. Is it complicated? Do you have testimonials?
Not at all—it’s actually a very enjoyable and creative process. Sharing ideas and collaborating on a design can be inspiring. While the early stages may move slowly as ideas take shape, the project quickly gains momentum. Detailed drawings help you visualize the final piece with confidence, and my extensive portfolio gives you a clear idea of what to expect. You can also read client stories on my Testimonials page to see how others have enjoyed the experience and loved their finished pieces.
What if I don’t see my question here?
